Ritchie Bros Auctioneers remains on course to hold its first auction in China early in 2013 with regulatory approvals moving forward and an auction site in Beijing being lined up.

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers is to acquire AssetNation, a US-based online auctioneer specialising in the sale of surplus and salvaged assets. Ritchie said the acquisition would enable it to offer new, non-auction services to its customers.

Ritchie Bros Auctioneers has applied to establish a wholly-owned Chinese subsidiary and hopes to be granted a licence to hold auctions in the country, with the aim of holding its first Chinese auction in the second half of 2012.
