XCMG opens automated MEWP factory

XCMG opens its second MEWP factory.

XCMG has officially opened its second aerial platform manufacturing plant in China.

The new factory, covering 170,000 square meters and built at a cost of nearly RMB2 billion, will mainly produce the manufacturer’s most popular models, including 22m and 28m boom lifts and electric rough terrain products.

Based 15 minutes drive away from XCMG’s first MEWP factory in Xuzhou, the annual maximum capacity of the new facility is 60,000 units.

The plant boasts a large number of automated equipment, including more than 120 robots, 25 production lines and a range of other key processes.

XCMG said the facility represented a major move in intelligent manufacturing. “Through the integrated application of advanced technologies and automated equipment such as robotic robots, 3D vision cameras, high-power laser cutting machines, RGV, AGV, and vertical automated warehouse systems, we have realised automatic production across the whole process.”

This also includes loading and unloading of materials, cutting, machining and bending, as well as material sorting and plate transfer and transportation, as well as splicing, welding and painting and finished product online inspection.

“Through intelligent, unmanned equipment, we have achieved a substantial increase in productivity and manufacturing accuracy, which will provide customers with higher quality aerial work platform products,” added the company.
