The Wirtgen Group, part of the John Deere Construction and Forestry Division, announced plans to present a wide range of sustainable solutions for the road construction industry – including more than 90 exhibits and 33 world premieres – on its 13000 sq. meter exhibition space at Bauma 2022 in Munich. Co-located with John Deere, the stand will include a cross-section of solutions for the entire road construction process chain from specialist product brands Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann and Benninghoven. In addition, the Technology Zone will show application-specific core technologies as well as digital solutions and technologies.

One of the future technologies scheduled to be on display is the Hamm electrically powered HD CompactLine tandem rollers. Hamm will present eight models, all of which are powered by a maintenance-free, 23 kWH lithium-ion battery with a capacity for an entire working day. Energy released by the traction and vibration motors during braking is also used in recovery.

The e-drive on the HD CompactLine significantly reduces noise emissions, making the e-tandem rollers suitable for particularly noise-sensitive areas. Because such areas also often require a low vibration load, Hamm is introducing an electric combination roller with oscillation in addition to e-vibration and oscillation rollers.

Not to be outdone, Kleemann is featuring a fully electric drive system on its new Mobirex MR 130(i) PRO mobile impact crusher. The option to connect to an external power supply enables materials processing with low energy consumption per ton.

Also among the many highlights will be the Benninghoven REVOC system for the sustainable batch production of asphalt in mixing plants. The EVO JET multi-fuel burner can now generate heat from regenerative fuels such as Biomass to Liquid (BtL) and wood dust, both of which have a neutral carbon footprint. In addition, Benninghoven offers electrically heated bitumen tanks for carbon neutral storage of bitumen.

Wirtgen Group’s plans include a continuous increase in the number of sustainable machine and technology solutions by 2026. Visitors to the Wirtgen Group booth can learn more about the group’s sustainability targets in a special exhibition on the roof terrace of the Technology Zone.
