Vinci, Vopak and Jurong Consultants win the contract to operate the Jurong Rock Caverns in Singapore

A consortium led by Vopak Terminals Singapore (45%) and Geostock (35%), a subsidiary of Vinci's Entrepose Contracting, has been awarded the contract by JTC Corporation to operate and maintain Singapore’s Jurong Rock Caverns (JRC).

The JRC consists of five deep excavated undersea rock caverns for which Geostock provided basic engineering design and construction management services.

The consortium, which is called Banyan Caverns Storage Services Pte Ltd (BCSS), which also includes Jurong Consultants (20%), will operate and maintain phase one of the JRC underground petroleum product storage facility for 15 years.

BCSS will be responsible for management and maintenance of the underground and surface facilities, including the access shafts and underground tunnels. It will also maintain all mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment including fire protection and ventilation systems, and ancillary facilities such as jetties.
