Turner Construction Company has won a $389 million contract to construct two buildings at Offutt Air Base outside Omaha, Nebraska, USA.

The project comes after the air base suffered a major flood in March 2019.

Turner’s work for the US Army Corps of Engineers is the final part of a recovery programme underway to raise facilities above the 100-year flood plain.

One three-storey, 420,000 sq ft non-kinetic operations building will house intelligence, training, maintenance and reconnaissance squadrons.

Another 5,000 sq ft defence courier station will be a shipping and receiving facility.

Corey Taylor, business manager for Turner Construction Company, which is a subsidiary of German construction group Hochtief, said, “We look forward to working with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center and the US Army Corps of Engineers on this project that will consolidate and improve operations at Offutt Air Force Base.”

The facilities are due to open in December 2027.
