Turner and JE Dunn win $1.2bn deal to redevelop Austin Convention Center

A joint venture between Turner Construction Company and JE Dunn have won a $1.2 billion deal to redevelop and expand the Austin Convention Center in Texas.

The project involves demolishing and rebuilding the Convention Center over four years, nearly doubling the amount of rentable space.

The work will also involve delivering a community-friendly event space, connecting downtown and East Austin.

Construction work is due for completion in 2028.

Graham Dewar, vice president and general manager of Turner Construction Company, which is owned by Hochtief, said. “This project will revitalize the Austin Convention Center, improving the experience for client and guests alike, while improving the connectivity of downtown Austin.”
