Theiss takes lead on Pacific Highway contract

24 November 2012

Australia’s Thiess, in a joint venture with MacMahon Contractors, has been named as the preferred contractor on the Pacific Highway upgrade between Frederickton Interchange and Eungai in New South Wales.

The Thiess MacMahon joint venture (TMJV) – in which Theiss is the lead partner with 60% - is to design and construct a 26.5 km four-lane divided carriageway.

The contractor, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leighton Holdings Limited, is also currently working on the Hunter Expressway near Newcastle, also in New South Wales.

The contract, awarded by the Federal and NSW State Governments, will be signed in December and while the value is yet to be finalised, it is expected to be in the order of AU$450 million (US$ 470 million).
