The Chilean tunnelling division of European contractor Strabag has been awarded a US$ 490 million contract to design and build tunnelling and civil works for the Alto Maipo Hydroelectrical Power Plant.

The four and a half year project includes detail design engineering and construction of underground and civil works of the two hydroelectric plants Alfalfal II and Las Lajas. Work will commence immediately.
