Skanska workers freed in Peru

Peruvian Skanska has announced that its group of employees taken hostage Monday April 9 in Kepashiato, a town near the city of Cusco, in Peru, have been released.

The contractor announced that the team was in good health ‘given the circumstances.'

The construction workers had been working on the Camisea Gas Project, one of Peru's largest ever infrastructure projects, which extracts and transports natural gas from the area near the Urubamba River in the San Martin Reservoir, central Peru.

Peruvian Skanska gave thanks to its client Transportadora de Gas del Perú, TGP, the Peruvian Government and the authorities, and Construcciones Modulares for their co-operation in the matter.

The Peruvian authorities handled all negotiations with the kidnappers.
