SAAone consortium wins Dutch highways contract

17 December 2012

The SAAone consortium, made up of Hochtief, Royal Boskalis Westminster, VolkerWessels, and the Dutch Infrastructure Fund (DIF), has been awarded a €1 billion contract by the Dutch government to build, upgrade and operate a 20km section of the highway between Amsterdam and Almere, the Netherlands.

The consortium will plan, finance and build a section of the A1 and a section of the connecting A6 on the basis of a public-private partnership (PPP), and will operate these sections for 25 years.

The project will include the widening of the A1/A6 sections between Muiderberg and Hollandse Brug to a five-lane highway in both directions plus two reversible lanes, widening the A6 between Hollandse Bridge and the exit for Almere Havendreef to a four-lane highway in both directions plus two reversible lanes, and the construction of an aqueduct and a railway bridge.

The contract will reach its financial close in February 2013.
