Pumpex pumps are working at a site in Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia as part of a project to construct a new sewage system.

Per Forsberg, international sales manager for Pumpex in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) said, “This is a project where they are laying pipes for a new sewage system closed to the coast. The pipes are 2, 2.5 and 3 m in diameter. They are making shafts approximately 300 m away from where they are using hydraulics to push in the pipe section by section until they reach the nest shaft.”

Contractor, Al-Muhaidib, is using more than 20 Pumpex PX22 35 kW pumps and 20 Pumpex PX12 22 kw pumps to drain the shafts, each of which is around 20 to 25 m deep.

Mr Forsberg added, “Pumping the water is tough and very wearing as it consists of sand and shells and the pumps are often working on snore, with a mixture of water and air, which is increasing the wear even further.”
