New drilling systems and rigs from Fraste

Italian drilling specialist Fraste has introduced a CAN-Bus data communication system using Danfoss Plus-1 technology for use on its Multidrill XL drilling rig, its best selling mid-size rig.

The system provides the user with real-time information on performance of the drill and eliminates the use of mechanical control devices used previously. The system will be used on other Fraste rigs in future.

Other Intermat launches from Fraste include a more powerful, 75kW version of its 51kW Multidrill ML, a compact crawler mounted drill and the Multi-EXP product, a soil investigation drilling rig mounted on a 4 X 4 vehicle. It has also revealed a new ‘crane-type' manipulator that allows the rig operator to position drill pipes from a truck positioned alongside the rig, meaning uninterrupted drilling depths of 1000 m.

Speaking about the new Multidrill ML, Fraste's sales manager, Cristiano Marchioro said, "It's a bigger machine so it can be used for bigger jobs, but it is still compact in its design."

He added the operator's control panel, which is positioned on a moving arm, improves drilling visibility and accuracy, therefore saving time.

The new 4 tonne version of the Multidrill ML rig is mainly used in soil investigation and waterwell applications, Mr Marchioro said.
