Leighton wins US$ 210 million Elizabeth Quay contract

19 December 2012

The Western Australian State Government has awarded Leighton a AU$ 200 million (US$ 210 million) contract for the construction of Elizabeth Quay on Perth’s waterfront.

Leighton and its subsidiary Broad Construction Services will build a new 2.7 ha inlet, together with roads, parks, promenades and an island with a connecting bridge on a 10 ha site. The project is part of plans to regenerate central Perth, and is intended to become a new public precinct.

The total cost of the Elizabeth Quay development is AU$ 2.6 billion (US$ 2.7 billion), according to Western Australia’s Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority.

Construction is scheduled to start in early 2013, and completion is set for mid-2015.
