Lafarge and Holcim agree Indian divestments
01 April 2015
Lafarge and Holcim have agreed a package of divestments with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to clear the way for their proposed merger. They will sell a cement plant in Sonadih and a grinding station in Jojobera – both in Eastern India – with a capacity of some 5 million tonnes of cement per year.
A statement from Holcim said, “India is an important market for the future LafargeHolcim Group with a balanced portfolio in cement, aggregates, and ready-mix concrete. The combined Group will have a cement capacity of around 68 million tonnes in India.”
Holcim added that the divestment was subject to the closing of the merger between Lafarge and Holcim, which is expected in July this year.
