JCB will launch two new wheeled loaders at Bauma, the 427 and 437, which feature a Cummins QSB 6.7 litre engine, a progressive clutch cut-off feature and the option of a five-speed transmission.

The company said these Stage IIIB-compliant machines offered a 9.4% increase in torque on the previous models, lower in-cab noise levels, and fuel saving features such as a lower engine idle speed and the option of automatic engine shut-down for long periods of inactivity. JCB also said the five-speed transmission option could deliver a 16% improvement in fuel consumption.

Bauma will also see JCB launch several machines featuring its own Stage IIIB-compliant Ecomax engine. The 55 to 129 kW engine does not feature any aftertreatment systems such as a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to comply with the emissions laws. This saves space in the engine compartment, and JCB also said it helped keep running costs down, through, for example, the use of standard oils.

Products featuring the new engine at Bauma will include JCB’s 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders, its range of Loadall telescopic handlers, and several mid-range excavators from 11 to 15 tonnes. It is also used in JCB’s TM320 telescopic boom wheeled loader.

JCB’s Bauma display will also include new products for the waste industry, including a new Wastemaster version of the 4CX backhoe loader and a 20 tonne materials handler, the JS20MH. The handler features a new undercarriage design, with a central slewing position, which JCB claimed meant the machine was more stable throughout the full 360° of rotation, compared to traditional wheeled excavators.
