03 July 2009

A joint venture between Impregilo and Libyan Development Investment has won a € 360 million contract for housing and infrastructure modernisation in the Libyan cities of Tripoli and Misurata.

The schemes involve the renovation of various public utilities in the cities, including power, water, sewage and telephone networks. In Tripoli the work will cover an area of 1770 Ha, while in Misurata the project covers 300 Ha of the city centre and a 580 Ha outlying region.

Earlier in the year Impregilo won a € 400 million contract to build three new university campuses in Libya.

Commenting on the wins, CEO Alberto Rubegni said, "These new contracts are another step in our growth strategy in the Mediterranean and in Libya in particular. Libya is a country in which we have been active for more than 20 years."
