IAPA 2022 winners announced in London

The winners of the International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs) were revealed to a record crowd in London, UK, on 10 March. 

More than 450 industry professionals gathered at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington, for this year’s IAPAs, which celebrate best practice in the access industry across 13 award categories.

Among a raft of notable winners JLG triumphed in two product categories, while Riwal took home the trophy for the new Sustainability Award. There were also a number of first time winners, including manufacturers Torgar, from Spain, Finland’s Dinolift and Italy-based CTE, as well as French rental company Joly Location.

Winners celebrate at the end of the 2022 IAPA awards in London at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel.

The winners were chosen by an independent judging panel of industry experts from over 130 high quality entries – the most ever received for these awards. (See details about the judges below).

Event organisers Access International and IPAF also announced the location of the 2023 event, which will take place in Berlin, Germany.

Daniel was working for Paramount Platforms when he took this inspiring shot of a Hinowa Lightlift 17.75 PIIIS working at the Natural History Museum in London. It is being used to clean and check the anchor points of Hope, a 25.2m long blue whale skeleton hanging from the celling of the museum.

Citation for Chris Wraith, Lifetime achievement award
Chris has dedicated much of his working life to improving a promoting safety and good practice in the MEWP industry. Between 1996 and 2000 he was Senior Training Instructor at Nationwide Access.

In 2005 he became Safety, Health & Environmental Advisor at Nationwide Access and in 2008 took on the role of UK QHSE Manager at Lavendon Access Services. In 2011, he joined IPAF as Technical & Safety Executive, where he worked with national and international bodies to influence developments in the safe design and use of MEWPs and to promote the objectives of IPAF and its members.

Chris left IPAF in 2018 to continue to pursue his passion for MEWP safety as director of consultancy firm Access Safety Management. He still serves on several IPAF committees, including the International Safety Committee.

The winners and shortlist were chosen by an independent and impartial judging panel who were excluded from entering their company in any of the categories.
