An optional new Advanced Around View Monitoring (AAVM) camera system is being offered with the new range of Hyundai excavators on show at Bauma.

The company said the technology allowed the operator to secure a field of vision in all directions around the machine. This system, which is exclusive to Hyundai, is claimed to be the first of its kind and the safest system available on the current market.

Four cameras work in collaboration with the controller and produce a 360° image of the working range around the machine. It secures a field of vision in all directions with ten different viewing options.

Hyundai’s new camera system also incorporates IMOD (Intelligent Moving Object Detection) which informs the operator when people or dangerous objects are detected within a 5m radius of the machine.

Hyundai is showing a total of 24 construction equipment machines, many making their world debut.

Various models of the HX Stage IV crawler excavators are being seen for the first time.

Hyundai is using the Bauma Munich exhibition as a platform to launch the new HL980 – the largest machine in the new HL wheeled loader series.

The company said the robust HL980 had been designed following thorough research among operators worldwide asking what they expected of the next generation of wheeled loaders.

It has an operating weight of 31,000kg and is powered by the latest Stage IV Scania DC13 engine without a DPF (Diesel Particle Filter), which Hyundai said made the HL980 up to 10% more fuel-efficient in truck-loading, and able to achieve up to 8% more productivity in comparison to its 9A series predecessor.

Two other new wheeled loaders – also Stage IV compliant – are at Bauma. They are the HW140 and HW210, and are fitted with an eco-friendly, high-performance 6 cylinder Cummins QSB6.7 engine.

The HW140 has an operating weight of 13,880kg and claims to be up to 15% more fuel efficient in truck loading and levelling compared to the 9-series of machines.

The HW210 has an operating weight of 21,200kg, and boasts up to 20% more fuel efficiency. Both of the new models claim a 90% reduction in PM and NOx in comparison to the 9-Series.

Successful year

The company said 2015 had been the most successful year ever for Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe. Sales numbers and turnover reached an all-time high with more than 5,000 units sold and 8% growth in turn-over for construction equipment and forklifts.

Hyundai said its market share of mini excavators had grown in Scandinavia, the UK, Eastern Europe and France. It said it had made it a priority to increase its share of the mini excavator market. Another priority was to increase parts sales and 2015 showed an increase of 9% in this area. Hyundai’s strategy of having more than 70,000 line items in stock, creating 96%

Hyundai added that another major step forward was the decision to begin the construction of a new European headquarters. On 81,000m2 of land, a new office of 5,400m2, a new warehouse of 13,000m2, a training facility, an event hall and a showroom are now under construction.

SG Rhee, COO HHI construction equipment division, said, “We’re very happy to begin the construction work on our €30 million investment project for our new headquarters in Belgium. Our solid investment in Europe will enable Hyundai to increase our success in Europe.
