JCB has launched a total of 33 new models so far this year, including excavators, wheeled loaders, telescopic handlers, skid steer loaders, compactors and mini excavators. The company says that in some cases the use of new engines, hydraulic systems and electronic controls will deliver thousands of Euros in fuel savings for owners.

Among the new launches are is a long line-up of new excavators, and in the 11 to 18 tonne classes, the company is now fitting its own 4.4 litre tier 3 compliant engine. In emerging markets it also fits its own 4.8 litre engine to 20 to 24 tonne excavators. In the larger machines it says this has led to up to a 24% improvement in fuel efficiency. For 24 to 36 tonne machines in Europe and North America, JCB has retained Isuzu diesel engines, which comply with Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB regulations.

Chief innovation and growth officer, Tim Burnhope said, "A customer using a JS360 (36 tonne) excavator will save € 4,000 over a year, based a 2,000 hour working year."

In addition to the new products launched earlier this year, JCB has used Intermat to complete its introduction of a 17-model range of skid steer loaders. The final five models to be added are the 175, 190 and 205 skid steers and 190T and 205T compact tracked loaders. Rated capacities are 794 kg, 862 kg and 930 kg, and the machines feature JCB's distinctive single boom design.

"There is 20% more steel in that one arm than there is in both arms of a competitor machine, "said Mr Burnhope.

Also new at the show is JCB's largest ever telehandler and the first it has made with a five-stage telescopic boom. The 540-200 offers a maximum capacity of 4 tonnes and a maximum reach of 20 m. Another new addition is the 1.5 tonne 8018 conventional tailswing mini excavator. Also new are two wheeled loaders, the , the 129 kW 437 and 118 kW 437.
