Education City

25 April 2008

At Qatar Foundation’s Education City the Hyder Consulting/Atkins joint venture is responsible for design and construction management of the QAR 4 billion (US$ 2.2 billion) primary infrastructure package, which includes its roads, landscaping, district cooling, electric, water and sewage networks.

According to Hyder’s project manager, Mark Wiltshire, the ever-expanding project has not been without its difficulties. “It’s a very interesting project,” said Mr Wiltshire, “however, it’s presented several challenges, such as putting in the 4 x 4 m utility ring (pictured) needed to supply the whole project while working round the existing infrastructure, for example.”
