Dubai Waterfront

Dubai's largest and newest offshore development is the Waterfront. The 81 million m2development will have 10 zones and incorporate the Palm Jebel Ali. Opposite is the mouth of the world's longest man-made canal, the 75 km long Arabian Canal, which will be excavated from near the Dubai Marina area. It will snake inland around the area earmarked for Jebel Ali International Airport and enter the sea again at the outer end of Palm Jebel Ali. Dubai, and forms the first phase of the larger Arabian Canal.

Almost 750000 people will be able to live on the Waterfront, which will have space for 200 hotels including Hydropolis, the world's first large scale undersea hotel (see iC November 2003). Over 600 km of roads will be created alongside 370 km of internal canals/waterways. Over 900 million m3 of excavation is planned together with a 5 km2 of coral reef. It will add 850 km of new waterfront, twelve times the existing Dubai coastline.
