Doosan Heavy's deal to upgrade power plant

South Korean-based Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has bagged a KRW300 billion (US$262 million) deal to help upgrade the Muara Tawar power plant in Indonesia.

According to the deal made with the Indonesian government-owned corporation Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) – who have a monopoly on electricity distribution in the region – Doosan will work in tandem with a state-run Indonesian construction firm.

As South Korea’s top power equipment maker, Doosan said they have agreed to provide three steam turbines and eight boilers.

Over the next 30 months, the capacity of the gas-powered plant will be increased from the current 1,150MW to 1,800MW.

In December of last year, Doosan also won a similar deal in Indonesia worth KRW180 billion (US$157 million).
