Caterpillar has launched three new compact wheeled loaders as part of its Next Generation equipment line.

The Cat 906, 907 and 908 models are designed for the construction, industrial and waste sectors and have operating weights ranging from 5.7 to 6.6 tonnes.

They are fitted with Cat’s new Stage V-compliant C2.8 engine, which provides 55.7kW (74 hp) of power and delivers 13% more torque.

According to the manufacturer, this means the loaders benefit from improved road performance and “tractive effort”, when compared to Cat’s previous M-Series loaders.

The three models will be available globally.

In addition to larger fuel tanks, the models also have an upgraded drive and powertrain that offers faster road speeds - up to 25mph (40km/h) - than their predecessors, and also feautre a reengineered operator station.

The Next Generation loaders are equipped with a pressurized cab, which is fitted seat-mounted controls.

“A multifunction joystick controls travel direction and speed, proportional auxiliary flow, differential lock, and constant hydraulic flow without operators removing their hand from the joystick, elevating operating safety,” said Cat.

The cabs of 906, 907 and 908 loaders also include Cat’s Next Generation control monitor, which provides real-time machine operating information.

Operators can use the monitor to configure hydrostatic transmission response, auto engine idle shutdown and a utility powertrain mode, which is said to provide “a more intuitive means of controlling ground and engine speed” when working with attachments.
