Volvo Construction Equipment has launched a new 7 tonne compact excavator for the Middle East and African markets.

The EC75D features Volvo’s D3 diesel engine, delivering 44.4kW of power and reduced fuel consumption.

First launched at Bauma China in 2018 and said to be the biggest excavator in its weight class, the excavator has what is claimed to be a wider and longer undercarriage than similar models on the market. This allows it to be used with a bigger bucket for increased productivity.

With a maximum reach of 6.3m and a digging depth of 3.8m, the high-strength tensile steel boom of the EC75D is fixed to the side of the cab for improved stability and visibility of the job site.

The machine incorporates an automatic idling system that lowers engine speed to idle when the controls are “inactive for five seconds or the left-hand console is raised”.

The manufacturer said, “The cab on the Volvo EC75D also encourages the operator to work productively, thanks to the spacious and comfortable environment, with easy-to-access controls, an efficient climate control system and vibration and noise isolation.”

Inside the cab, the EC75D is equipped with an I-ECU monitor that displays machine data and operational information that allows the operator to control the machine more efficiently.

Alongside the display monitor, the excavator’s grouped services and ground level access points enable service technicians to perform diagnostic checks and maintenance tasks quickly for increased uptime.
