Vinci buys Seymour Whyte

France-based Vinci has strengthened its position in the Pacific area with the recent acquisition of Australian construction company Seymour Whyte.

This comes in the wake of Vinci’s procurement of New Zealand-based HEB Construction in 2015.

The 100% acquisition of Seymour Whyte was said to be worth A$113 million (US$86.5 million).

The company – which is made up of Seymour Whyte Constructions and Rob Carr – generated a total revenue of A$433.36 million ($331.8 million) in 2017.

In the Pacific area, Vinci generated a revenue of €549 million ($639.9 million) in 2016, and it currently employs 2,000 people and delivers projects that range from highway construction to soil reinforcement.

Jérôme Stubler, chairman of Vinci, said, “Seymour Whyte is a company that resembles us, with a strong entrepreneurial culture. This acquisition will enable us to expand synergies with Vinci Construction’s existing expertise in Australia and more broadly in the Pacific area.”
