Subaru to close industrial products division

06 June 2016

Manufacturer Subaru has outlined plans to close its industrial products division as a stand-alone unit and integrate it with its automotive business.

The company’s industrial products division produces engines, pumps and generators.

Subaru’s parent company Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) the said the change would take effect from 1 October this year. It said the purpose of this shift was to enhance the competitiveness of the core automotive business by using resources more effectively and flexibly, with an aim of achieving sustainable growth in the future.

It said manufacture, sales and service of its existing industrial products would continue for the time being, but development projects would be ended so that resources - including development personnel - could gradually be reassigned to the automotive business.
