Shantui unveils GPS machine control dozer

22 September 2015

Shantui has used the BICES exhibition in Beijing, China to unveil its first ever GPS machine controlled dozer, the DH17R. The 19.3 tonne, 127 kW machine was demonstrated using a Leica iCON GPS 60 receiver.

The automatic machine control system adjusts the blade’s position according to the pre-defined electronic profile of the project. This helps to ensure the correct profile is established with the minimum number of passes, helping to remove operator error. The machine can work up to 500 m away from the GPS reference station. The unit on display at BICES was fitted with a Weichai engine conforming to the China III emissions standard, equivalent to Tier 3 in the US or Stage IIIA in Europe.

Also new at the show from Shantui is the 17.5 tonne, 127 kW fully hydraulic dozer, with a hydrostatic drive. The machine features a Wechai engine for compliance with Chinese emissions regulations. Also on display was the SD16YS in the same weight class, but fitted with a Cummins engine conforming to European Stage IIIB or the US Interim Tier 4.

Finally, the company took the wraps off the SD20-5LNG dozer, which is powered by natural gas. Shantui says this system reduces fuel costs by more than 30% and more than halves CO2 emissions.
