New vehicle mount access company established in Australia

A new company has been formed in Australia to sell vehicle mounts across the country.

Waimea Australia begins trading this month and has been established by the Joyce family, owners of Monitor Lifts group, which distributes spider lifts from Platform Basket, Omme Lift and Leguan Lifts, and rail mounted lifts, also from Platform Basket, across the country.

The new company is majority owned by the Joyce family, with long-established New Zealand-based Waimea Group owning the rest. Both companies represent vehicle manufacturers GSR, based in Italy, and Versalift, based in Denmark, in their respective countries.

Offering insulated and non-insulated models, Waimea Group has been operating in New Zealand for more than 40 years. The models, mainly truck mounts, range from 14m to 36m working height, and include a wide selection of telescopic and articulated options.

Most models can be mounted on either a 2WD or 4WD chassis, with options inluding aluminium or steel tray body, toolboxes, cab roof protection, radio control operation, among others.

Ben Joyce, general manager of Monitor Lifts and Waimea Australia, said the company has a well established national service support through the Access Service Australia network, covering everywhere from Cairns to Karratha, Perth to Hobart, or anywhere in between.

“Waimea Australia’s commitment is to provide the right equipment at the right time through their flexible model to support the workload. In the volatility of today’s market, Waimea realises the need to remain flexible and provide the ability to adapt without committing to capital expenditure that is not optimised.”

Joyce added that the support network ensures that each product is customised to suit requirements across a range of applications, such as tree care, power distribution, broadband, water and other utility-related work. “This process involves many years’ experience in weight ratios, stability, certification, compliance and actual hands-on knowledge of how these specialist trucks are used in the field and the ergonomics involved in a build.”

As approved distributers the company sources units directly from the factory and build them onto Australian chassis with all elements, such as hydraulics, electrics, painting and assembly being conducted at Waimea’s facilities.
