Moxy Engineering is gearing up for the launch of it first rigid dump truck since it acquired the Aveling-Barford rigid dump truck range in 2005. The company will introduce the new AB51 at ConExpo in 2008. The machine, which has been developed from the RD44 Aveling Barford model, has a 51 ton (46.3 tonne) payload capacity.

Jamie Thomson, Moxy Engineering's managing director, said, “We are delighted with the interest shown by potential customers when the prototype was displayed at Bauma in April despite the fact that production is not expected to begin until mid 2008. With quite a long time until production there may be some changes to the specifications.”

Mr Thomson added the AB51 will be followed by the AB76, an updated version of the Aveling Barford RD65.

The acquisition is part of Moxy's strategy to diversify its product range and enter into new niche markets in the construction industry, Mr Thomson said.

He added the company is aiming to release one new rigid dump truck every year for the next three to four years up to a maximum capacity of 120 tons (109 tonnes).

Moxy's move into the rigid truck market follows the launch of its MT51, which the company says is the world's largest articulated dump truck.
