New dates for Italy’s Asphaltica show

Italy’s Asphaltica exhibition, postponed in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, will now take place in Verona between 20 and 22 October, 2021.

The show, focusing on technologies and solutions within the road construction industry, is organised by Veronafiere, in partnership with the Italian asphalt industry association SITEB.

Asphaltica will be held in Hall 4 at the Veronafiere Exhibition Centre, but will also feature an outdoor area, where large equipment and bituminous conglomerate production plant will be displayed.

A range of measures have been put in place at the exhibition centre, to ensure the safety of visitors and exhibitors, including thermo-scanners at the entrance gates, management of entry and exit flows in and out of facilities, online ticketing, continuous sanitisation of the venue and air conditioning systems, as well as a reorganisation of catering services and crowd control measures, using intelligent cameras.

Giovanni Mantovani, CEO of Veronafiere, said, “Together with SITEB and the main stakeholders in the supply chain, we have identified the end of October as a suitable time slot for holding Asphaltica in complete safety, as well as responding to the business needs of companies and operators and supporting the restart of the market.”

Michele Turrini, president of SITEB, said, “The new edition of Asphaltica, after the postponement last year, will take on a crucial role in relaunching a sector which in these difficult times has proven its resilience; today, our sector is called upon, with suitable support and strategic vision from the new government, to play a fundamental role in the safety and sustainability of the infrastructures of our country.

Turrini added, “We are working to prepare an edition that, while ensuring all safety protocols, will be a strategic occasion for meetings and comparisons for the entire road sector value chain, involving companies, public administrations and institutions.”

Veronafiere reports that the supply chain associated with bitumen is worth over €2 billion in Italy, directly employing 35,000 people, with up to 500,000 taking associated sectors into account.
