New Doosan Portable Power launches

16 November 2021

Doosan Portable Power has introduced a new range of small Stage V compliant portable compressors for the European market, along with small rental-friendly generators and an LVL portable light tower for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) markets.

The products were unveiled today, 16 November, via digital launch.

Stage V portable compressors

The portable compressors comprise four new models with free air deliveries from 2.5 to 5.0 m³/min (90-180 cfm).

They are badged with a new model name in which the first number indicates the pressure in bar, the second number represents nominal air flow in cubic metres per minute, while the number 5 at the end indicates a Stage V compliant engine.

There are three models operating at 7 bar nominal pressure - the new Stage V Yanmar-powered 7/25, 7/45 and 7/55 with outputs of 2.5, 4.0 and 5.0 m³/min (90, 140 and 180 cfm), respectively.

The new 14/35 higher pressure model provides 3.0 m³/min (105 cfm) of compressed air at 13.8 bar.

Jan Moravec, General Manager, Doosan Portable Power for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said the Stage V compliance had led to a design rethink of the small compressor range, “while maintaining the well accepted, superior durability of our products, improving the serviceability and fulfilling all possible transportability requirements.”

“As a result, like in our larger compressor ranges, a leak-free bunded base is now fully integrated into the bottom frame of the new small compressors and includes the central drains for all fluids. For the Stage V units with electronic control, we have also introduced the option of the ECOmizer feature, which reduces emissions, noise and fuel consumption.”

The ECOmizer means machines automatically respond to pressure and engine speed without the intervention of the operator to optimise fuel consumption and reduce noise and emissions.

“As soon as the operator activates a pneumatic tool being powered by the compressor, the machine will automatically recognise the demand of flow and pressure, providing the maximum performance immediately. For example, in a working cycle with 50% full load and 50% idle speed, the ECOmizer provides 60% savings in fuel.”

New generator models

The new range of small generator models for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) market adds applications for home standby, telecommunications and back-up power for small businesses.

New generators for the MEA market.

Moravec said; “Doosan Portable Power has significantly grown sales in the MEA region since 2017 and in 2021, the business is now able to provide a full range including rental specification products, which cover the majority of the market’s needs.”

The four new small generators – the G20, G30, G40 and G60 – are available as stationary (XW) and rental (RW) configurations.

The G20XW/RW, G30XW/RW, G40XW/RW and G60XW/RW provide prime power outputs of 18/19, 30/29, 41/43 and 58/59 kVA, respectively, and are available in a dual 50/60 Hz configuration.

Moravec said the RW line, designed specifically for rental “shines in situations where high manoeuvrability and fast installation are required while maintaining a low cost of ownership.”

Benefits of the RW line include: a battery isolator switch, electrical sockets, an oil change pump, external fuel tank access and top lifting points.

The generators now have Yanmar engines to improve uptime with a low requirement of repair, and come with a variety of common parts.

They offer reduced fuel consumption by between 7 and 20% and reduced noise levels by 2 to 6 dBA compared to previous models.

The OEM said the units had undergone “extensive and successful testing in Middle East conditions for thousands of hours, with the units being used with different loads, and in temperatures above 40 °C.”

LVL Portable Light Tower

The new compact LVL 50 Hz portable light tower for markets in MEA - also available as a 60 Hz model - is also designed for the rental market, including special events, road and bridge construction sites, general construction applications, emergency and disaster relief, oil and gas drilling and for mining and quarrying locations.

It has a power train based around the Yanmar L48N5 Tier 2 diesel engine and a high output alternator. The fuel tank capacity allows an extended runtime for the four LED lights of 220 hours (200 hours for the 60 Hz version).

Four 300 W LED lights provide a total output of 1200 W, up to 50 thousand hours of lifetime, and unlike metal-halide lights used in previous models, do not require cool-down or recharge times.

Other features include a seven-metre telescopic extension and full 360-degree rotation, a 5 amp 230V or 120V (as a 60 Hz option) socket with a multi-region connector for mobile phones and other electrical devices, and a clamshell-style canopy designed for easy service access.
