New 550m high tower for Dubai

Construction work is set to begin immediately on a 550m high tower in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, according to information released by state-owned investment firm Dubai Holding.

The first phase of the tower in Dubai is scheduled to be completed in 2023

The tower – known as Burj Jumeira – will feature homes, hotel units and office space.

The facade of the building will feature digital displays that will be utilised for various occasions and celebrations.

The design of the tower is said to have been inspired by the United Arab Emirate’s sand dunes, while the base of the building has been designed in the outline of the fingerprint of Sheikh Mohammed, the Ruler of Dubai.

The architecture firm behind the tower has not yet been confirmed. However, the developer has announced that construction on the building will commence immediately, with phase one due to the delivered in 2023.

According to the Global Tall Building Database, there are currently 13 supertall buildings (defined as 300m and above in height) currently under construction in Dubai, meaning that the city has the most supertall buildings under construction of any city in the world.
