L&T wins US$165 million oil project

Larsen & Toubro Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) reports it has won an INR1100 crore (US$164.8 million) contract for construction work at the Bongaigaon Refinery in Assam, India.
The agreement with the Indian Oil Corporation calls for LTHE to supply a 0.740 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) fluidised cracking unit (FCC) to the refinery.
The unit will incorporate Indane Maximisation (INDMAX) technology that was piloted in India at the nearby Guwahati Refinery.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract also requires LTHE to supply an LPG treatment facility at the plant.
No date for completion of the project has been given as yet.
The company said its success in the bidding process was due to its “distinguished track record of executing process plants with comprehensive scope of work and stringent delivery schedules on lump-sum EPCC basis involving diverse technologies from various process licensors”.
