Iraq mixed-use project planned

United Arab Emirates (UAE) developer Damac Properties has announced plans for a US$ 15 billion development in Iraq's Kurdistan province to start by the end of this year.

The Tarin Hills project will include residential, commercial and hospitality buildings over 15.8 million m2 in Arbil, said the company.

In a statement on the company's website, Damac chairman Hussain Sajwani said the first phase of the project would cost US$ 4.5 billion and the total cost of the project would be US$ 14.98 billion).

Quoting Nerchivan Barzani, the prime minister of the region, the statement said, "Tarin Hills development... will also create jobs and support growth in related sectors such as tourism and hospitality."
