Doosan to show XiteCloud tech at Hillhead Digital

XiteCloud concept XiteCloud can add in information from optimal planning algorithms such as Grid/Road and fleet plans

Doosan Infracore will present its new XiteCloud quarrying, mining and construction platform to the industry at this year’s Hillhead Digital event, which runs from the 30 to 31 March this year.

The XiteCloud platform enables users to manage multiple projects and tasks on a single platform. It can be used for surveys, terrain analysis, machine purchases, equipment operation and construction management.

The company, which is also due to show new wheeled loader, excavator and ADT models at the online event, said it will be the first presentation of the technology in the UK after its launch in South Korea.

It added that events such as Hillhead Digital had opened the door for it to further expand its business portfolio into construction site management.

According to the equipment manufacturer, the technology can improve productivity “by incorporating complex 3D drone construction surveys and earthwork calculations into a cloud platform, allowing them to be completed in just one to two days”.

The company, which said it plans to launch the platform in Europe and other international markets in the near future, described XiteCloud as its “first step towards the commercialisation of Concept-X,” – an integrated, unmanned and automated control system first demonstrated in 2019.

XiteCloud, which underwent a verification process at more than ten construction sites and infrastructure facilities, has already been chosen for a 3D modelling and cloud platform service contract with South Korean firm Il Kwang E&C Co. The civil contractor will use the technology for the earthwork preparations of a 50,000m2 commercial and residential housing project in Seoul.

Doosan said it has further plans to expand XiteCloud’s functionality for use with large construction equipment, which will see it utilise 5G mobile technology and telematics, allowing the customer to manage all of their machine fleet on this platform.
