CCC co-founder Said Khoury

Said Khoury, one of founders and a former chairman of Greece-based Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) has died. He was 91.

Founded in 1948 by Mr Khoury and other partners, CCC has since grown to be the largest contractor in the Middle East, with annual revenues of more than US$ 5 billion and some 130,000 staff. The company was ranked 67th in this year’s iC league table of the world’s 200 largest construction companies.

Outside of the construction industry, Palestinian born Mr Khoury was known for his philanthropy and for championing the cause of his homeland. He has served on the board of the Welfare Association, which is dedicated to supporting Palestinians suffering under occupation. He also founded the, which seeks to regenerate and revitalise the city of Christ’s birth.

Among the honours awarded to Mr Khoury are an honorary doctorate and the Medal of merit from the American University of Beirut (AUB).
