BEML opens assembly facility in Brazil

BEML has established an assembly unit - BEML Brasil Industrial - in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
It will assemble products for the mining and construction, rail and metro and defence sectors for domestic use and export.
In a statement the company said that the new unit will allow it to start promoting its after sales service support services in the country and, in future, other Latin American countries.
The new facility was opened by Shri Pradeep Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), Government of India, in the presence of His Excellency Shri BS Prakash, India's Brazilian Ambassador and Shri V RS Natarajan, chairman and managing director, BEML.
The spokesman added that it would be concentrating on the Suriname, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and Caribbean export markets and has plans to achieve sales of US$ 10 million in just 12 months.
