$1.5 billion Denver airport expansion
06 June 2018
Ground has been broken on Denver International Airport’s US$1.5 billion gate expansion project.
The construction will add 39 new gates to the airport by 2021 and increase the gate capacity of the airport by 30%.
The US$1.5bn project is being managed by Holder Construction and FCI Constructors and Turner Construction and Flatiron Construction.
The Denver gate expansion is just one element of the airport’s $3.5 billion expansion plan. Denver officials also awarded a $1.8 billion renovation and management contract to Ferrovial for the $650 million renovation of the airport’s Jeppesen Terminal and a $1.2 billion concession management agreement.
Kim Day, CEO at Denver International Airport, said, “The new gates are one of several major projects in our US$3.5bn five-year capital improvement program.
“We will not only increase capacity, but we will add more passenger amenities including food and shopping, charging stations and even outdoor space.”
